Accreditation
Quinnipiac University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.
Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied though a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Grade Point Average
The grade point average is obtained by dividing the total number of quality points earned at the university by the number of semester hours attempted for grades. Grades for courses transferred to the university are not calculated into the grade point average.
Academic Honors
Dean’s List: Undergraduate students qualify by earning a GPA of at least 3.50 with no grade lower than C and 12 completed credits.
Degree Honors
Summa Cum Laude 3.90-4.00
Magna Cum Laude 3.70-3.89
Cum Laude 3.50-3.69
Students must earn 60+ credits while at Quinnipiac to receive degree honors.
Academic Good Standing
A student fails to meet academic good standing requirements with a cumulative GPA below 2.00 and/or semester GPA below 2.00 in any two consecutive semesters.
Academic Sanctions
Academic warning: semester GPA below 2.00, credit deficiency, or lacking necessary English or Math requirements
Probation: due to GPA or credit deficiencies, or consecutive semesters with GPA under 2.00
Suspension: serious or repeated deficiencies. Students must leave for one semester.
Dismissal: serious or repeated deficiencies. Students are separated from the university. After a period of one year a student must file a new application for admission.
