This direct-entry Accelerated Dual-Degree Bachelor’s to Master of Social Work (3+2) program is an excellent choice for students in the College of Arts and Sciences seeking a rewarding and successful career as a clinical social worker and mental health professional. Through this accelerated dual-degree program, students complete both their bachelor’s degree and their Master of Social Work degree in just 5 years. The most common majors for students who are anticipating graduate study in social work are Sociology, Criminal Justice, Justice and Community Engagement, Gerontology, Psychology, and Health, Medicine, and Society. However, this accelerated dual-degree program is open to students in any Arts and Sciences major. This program is separate from the accelerated dual-degree BS in Health Science/MSW (3+2) offered by the School of Health Sciences. Students are advised that this accelerated degree will require overloads and summer coursework to complete the bachelor’s degree in three years.
Quinnipiac University’s MSW program prepares social workers for specialized practice in health and mental health. The curriculum emphasizes interprofessional education to familiarize students with a team-based approach to health and mental health care. The MSW program equips students with clinical social work skills, including counseling, crisis intervention and trauma-informed treatments, as well as the ability to access social welfare and community resources. Students are prepared for social work licensure as part of MSW coursework. Graduates of this MSW program meet eligibility requirements for both the LMSW and the LCSW.
Social work is the major provider of mental health care and one of the fastest-growing occupations in the United States. Graduates of this MSW program enter a broad range of high-demand fields. Hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, mental health clinics, schools, health departments, and social welfare, criminal justice and community organizations rely on social workers to provide health and mental health care to a wide variety of clients. Students in this program must complete all the requirements of the BA or BS major and the MSW. Students should work with their undergraduate advisors on a plan that ensures their academic progression through their major. Students must complete their BA or BS requirements within three years.
During the undergraduate portion of this program, students must complete the University Curriculum, major requirements, and all other university requirements. Students will take nine credits of graduate coursework in year three. The following table outlines the curricular requirements of the program beginning in year three of the undergraduate portion when students begin taking graduate level courses.
Once admitted to the program, students must maintain an undergraduate GPA of 3.00 and complete 20 credits in liberal arts. A maximum of nine credits may be used to fulfill both undergraduate and graduate requirements. Additionally, students must achieve a grade of B or higher in their three graduate courses. Students earn the Master's Degree in Social Work upon satisfactory completion of all MSW graduate curriculum requirements.

Admission Requirements: College of Arts and Sciences
The requirements for admission into the undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences programs are the same as those for admission to Quinnipiac University.
Admission to the university is competitive, and applicants are expected to present a strong college prep program in high school. Prospective first-year students are strongly encouraged to file an application as early in the senior year as possible, and arrange to have first quarter grades sent from their high school counselor as soon as they are available.
